Moses 7 (Feb 2–8)

Episode 6

We can learn about what our Zion should look like by modeling after Enoch’s Zion in Moses 7. Even if we might not walk exactly with God in this life, we can strive to be of one heart and one mind with those around us. Zion isn’t just the city we live in or the ward we go to, Zion is a condition of the heart and spirit. And creating a Zion people, starts with us.

Segment 1

Books:
Everyday Disciples by Taylor Ricks

Scriptures:
Moses 7:62 (Get ready for the Second Coming)

Segment 2

Scriptures:
Moses 6:34,39 (Enoch walked with God)
Genesis 5:22,24 (The only biblical reference to Enoch)
Moses 7:69 (Enoch’s people were Zion)

Words of the General Authorities:
In the Topical Guide, we find over 100 references to walking with God. Adam walked with God in the Garden of Eden; Enoch walked with God; Noah walked with God; Abraham and Isaac did walk with God.
The invitation to walk with God remains in place this day, in fact, “He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness,” or in other words, walk with Him. (Paul Lekias, “Walking with God on the Covenant Path”, July 2022 Liahona Australia Local Pages)

Segment 3

Moses 7:10-11,13 (Enoch teaching the Doctrine of Christ)
Moses 7:16-18 (One heart and one mind)
Moses 7:21 (Zion takes time)

Translations:
Poor - dal = socially vulnerable, thin or powerless, weak (Hebrew)

Segment 4

Scriptures:
Moses 7:11 (God’s name is full of grace and truth)
Moses 7:28 (God of heaven)
Moses 7:35 (Man of Holiness and Counsel)
Moses 7:53 (Messiah, the King of Zion, Rock of Heaven)

Moses 7:47 (Righteous Lamb)
Moses 7:48 (Christ the creator)
Moses 7:59,62 (Only Begotten)
Moses 7:66 (Almighty God)

Study Helps:
A title that Jesus Christ used when speaking of Himself. It meant the Son of the Man of Holiness. Man of Holiness is one of the names of God the Father. When Jesus called Himself the Son of Man, it was an open declaration of His divine relationship with the Father. (Son of Man, Guide to the Scriptures)

Segment 5

Scriptures:
Moses 7:25-28 (Wo, wo unto weeping)
Moses 7:33,38-39 (The wickedness sorrows God)
Moses 7:1 (Either believe or believe not)
Moses 7:30-32 (How can God love everyone, how can he not?)
Moses 7:41 (Enoch weeps for all)

Words of the General Authorities:
God’s plan of moral and mortal agency allows us to learn by our own experience. Some of our greatest life lessons come from things we would never choose. In love, Jesus Christ descended below and ascended above all things. He rejoices in our divine capacities for creativity and delight, kindness without hope for reward, faith unto repentance and forgiveness. And He weeps in sorrow at the enormity of our human suffering, cruelty, unfairness—often brought by human choice—as do the heavens and the God of heaven with them. (Gerrit W. Gong, “Eternity’s Great Gifts: Jesus Christ’s Atonement, Resurrection, Restoration”, April 2025 General Conference)

Peacemaking still begins in the most basic place—in our hearts. Then in homes and families. As we practice there, peacemaking will spread into our neighborhoods and communities. (Gary E. Stevenson, “Blessed Are the Peacemakers”, October 2025 General Conference)

Translations:
Wo, wo = Woe oracle, prophetic repetition conveying great grief (Hebrew)

Segment 6

Scriptures:
Moses 7:59-60 (Will God come?)
Moses 7:62 (A flood of goodness)

Words of the General Authorities:
In ancient times, God took the righteous city of Zion to Himself. By contrast, in the last days a new Zion will receive the Lord at His return…We must acknowledge that the building up of Zion occurs in tumultuous times—“a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord.” Thus, the gathering into stakes becomes “for a defense, and for a refuge from the storm, and from wrath when it shall be poured out without mixture upon the whole earth.” (D. Todd Christofferson, “Preparing for the Lord’s Return”, April 2019 General Conference)

Translations:
Wilt thou not come again - Resumptive repetition (Hebrew)
