From the Church

New #LightTheWorld video and campaign released for 2021

This year the Church is inspiring millions around the world to celebrate this Christmas season by being part of the greatest story ever told—the story of the Savior’s birth—and to light the world with love.

“We can all play a part in the Christmas story,” the Church’s Light the World website reads. As part of the 2021 campaign, a new Light the World video has been launched, drawing comparisons of modern-day service to those familiar and beloved characters from the Nativity story. Children putting on a puppet show for their friend in the hospital are likened to shepherds, a woman offering shelter for a refugee family provides a metaphorical stable, and a heartfelt hug becomes myrrh.

The comparisons hearken back to a familiar scripture verse in Matthew 25: “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

The 2021 Light the World campaign also includes an inspiring interactive experience to explore the Christmas story, a daily service suggestion calendar, Christmas videos, printable resources, and more.

And after a year’s hiatus, the much-loved Giving Machines are back, operating in 10 locations across the US. The Church is also now offering new opportunities to donate to the charity partners online.
