Both The Piano Guys and The Tabernacle Choir have achieved an incredible level of name-recognition and fame in their respective spheres. The Piano Guys, made up of the award-winning piano and cello combo Jon Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson, have achieved worldwide success over the past decade, amassing billions of YouTube views and hundreds of millions of music streams. And since its inception in 1847, The Tabernacle Choir has released Billboard-charting tracks; won Grammy Awards, Emmy Awards, and the National Medal of Arts; and performed at expositions, inaugurations of US presidents, and in acclaimed concert halls around the world.
Now the two legendary performing groups have united to bring a powerful and collaborative musical experience to both of their fan bases in a new joint music video for the sacred and beloved hymn “Wayfaring Stranger.” You can watch the gorgeous new collaboration in the video player below.
YouTube user Canny Explorer commented, “The Piano Guys and The Tabernacle Choir [are] a perfect combination. We all need this calming music in a world of so much conflict in every country.” And user Janette Tippetts wrote, “So beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talents, time, and effort.”
According to a press release from the Choir, “Wayfaring Stranger” is the first in a series of collaborative tracks forthcoming from The Tabernacle Choir and The Piano Guys. This track features a beautiful blend of voices and instruments in a stunning arrangement from the Choir’s award-winning music director Mack Wilberg.
Last August, The Piano Guys also appeared as special guests on The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square's award-winning weekly broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word. You can watch that performance below.
