General conference will no longer include a Saturday evening session

On Tuesday, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Renlund, testified of God’s love during a BYU devotional address and offered some words of advice for those who feel a lack of spiritual reception in their lives.

As civil unrest continues in Venezuela, thousands of refugees are packing up all their belongings and supplies with them across the border of Colombia in search of medicine, food, and safety. Some of these individuals are in search of a new home and others search for supplies to carry back to their families in Venezuela. To greet them at the border were volunteers with food boxes in hand. Witnessing this event, Sister Aburto of the Relief Society general presidency said she was reminded of the scripture in Mathew 25:25, which says, “For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in.”

Scripture is a hallmark of religion, and we believe that regular scripture study is a key to spiritual progress and protection. The Latter-day Saint scripture library includes the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. The Lord also instructed us to treat the teachings of living prophets as scripture: “For his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth, in all patience and faith” (D&C 21:5). How can we maintain a course of study that draws upon both sources and gives them the attention they deserve? Here are four ways you can seamlessly integrate your study of the standard works with your study of the teachings of living prophets.

President Packer's book, The Holy Temple, is a classic of Latter-day Saint literature that has become one of the most comprehensive and definitive works written about temples. In fact, much of the material found in the Church's temple preparation pamphlet comes from this inspired book.

A few years ago my sister-in-law shared with me her brutal sub for santa shopping attempt with her young family. Determined to do some good and teach their children about the true spirit of Christmas, they were armed with a list of needs and a handful of wants for a family in a destitute position. She was excited to have her kids walk the aisles of Costco with her, gathering simple things like coats, socks, underwear and then a few fun surprises as she taught them about service and giving.

When I talk to people about investing, whether it's for retirement or just general savings, I get all kinds of reactions.
