A lovely young lady sat in my office a while ago. Her life, which had begun with joy, service, and obedience, had descended through successive layers of iniquity and decadence to a place where blackness enveloped her, and she was miserable. Like Lehi of old, she beheld herself (see 1 Nephi 8:7). Like the prodigal son, she had spent too much time with the pigs and had come to herself (see Luke 15:17). She did not like what she saw in her mirror each morning and came at last to the one unfailing source of help. She came to my office seeking the Savior, because she had finally realized that there was nowhere else to go.

As Joseph was translating by means of the Urim and Thummim, he received instead of the words of the Book, a commandment to write a letter to a man by the name of David Whitmer, who lived in Waterloo, requesting him to come immediately with his team, and convey himself and Oliver to his own residence, as an evil-designing people were seeking to take away his (Joseph’s) life, in order to prevent the work of God from going forth to the world. The letter was written and delivered, and was shown by Mr. Whitmer to his father, mother, brothers, and sisters, and their advice was asked in regard to the best course for him to take in relation to the matter.

To her friends and family, Anne Freiss is considered "100-years-young" and an inspiration in the ways she continues to serve the Lord.

Many visitors enjoyed the beauty of the Jordan River Temple open house over the past month, including a very rare, fascinatingtime-lapse of its original construction.

On Thursday, the First Presidency and leaders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) met together for the first time in a historic meeting in Salt Lake City. After the meeting, President Russell M. Nelson and President Derrick Johnson of the NAACP released the following statements during a press conference:

The Paris France Temple became the first LDS temple in France and the 156th around the world when it was dedicated on May 21, 2017. To commemorate this historic event, Daniel Smith from Messages of Christ created a virtual tour of the temple so that Latter-day Saints around the world who were unable to visit the open house last year can see the beauty of this house of the Lord.

On Thanksgiving 2017, Josh Holt posted on Facebook thanking those who have tried to free him, those who have written to him and prayed for him. He also expressed his gratitude for his wife, daughters, family, and shared this touching testimony: "I am also thankful for God. Thankful that he has never left my side and continues to bless me. Even in the darkest of days, we can find the way the Lord is blessing us. Through small and simple things great things come to past. I am thankful for Jesus Christ, for his atonement which without I would never be able to get through this trial . . . There have been so many days here that God has comforted me as I am here alone in this jail cell or lay crying on my bed out of frustration, sadness, or even loneliness."

When nurses rushed Carol Decker into an emergency C-section, she had no idea that it would be the last time she would see her husband, Scott. She had no inkling that her next conscious memories would come three weeks later, filled with hazy terror as intubation tubes left her temporarily voiceless and doctors amputated her lower legs, her hand, and her finger. She had no way of understanding that one moment would change her life, her family, and her relationship with God forever.
