Earlier this week, Elder L. Tom Perry was hospitalized for breathing troubles. Though the Church announced that Elder Perry was released from the hospital and was resting at home Wednesday night, Friday, the Church gave an important update on Elder Perry's health:
After an announcement that Elder Perry's cancer had spread to his lungs, the Church announced that Elder Perry passed away in his home.
The Great Salt Lake Council, one of the largest Scout councils in the nation, has organized a coalition of 33 Scout councils representing more than half a million boys to ask the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America to delay the vote on a controversial proposal to eliminate its national policy prohibiting homosexuals from joining or leading Scout troops. In a message posted on its website Monday, the council expressed its “concern about the pace at which such actions are being taken.”
In an area training last year, Sister Jean Stevens counseled primary leaders in that region to focus on the plan of salvation. Cheryl’s ward did a 5th Sunday about the plan of salvation and put these large visual aids on the wall in their primary room, and now refer to them during most other sharing time lessons. They based their lesson on a simplified version the Plan of Salvation lesson from Preach my Gospel (leaving out references to paradise/spirit prison and judgment). My sister recently taught a similar lesson in her ward.
We may not hear the words "in sickness and in health" in the temple, but Jalyn Shaw believes the meaning is still there as Latter-day Saints commit to love and serve each other through all eternity. In 2011, Jalyn and her husband, Acey, experienced firsthand what "in sickness and in health" really means when Acey contracted a rare virus. The virus left Acey without the use of his legs, as well as limited use of his arms and his voice. On this week's episode, the couple shares what their experience has taught them about love, service, and eternity.

Latter-day Saints aren't the only ones who have spoken from the podium of the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Many US Presidents have as well. In honor of President's Day, here are a few interesting details behind each of their visits to this historic Temple Square building.

Let’s see if you can finish this scripture: “Men are that they might have . . . ?” If you said "joy," you're absolutely right. But has it ever felt like the opposition in your life makes it difficult to feel that joy? In this week’s Sunday on Monday study group, we’ll be digging into 2 Nephi 1–5 and learning more about the law of opposition and why it’s essential for experiencing joy.

As the first prophet of the Restoration, Joseph Smith had a lot of questions about how to organize Christ's church upon the earth. And from these questions came an incredible outpouring of visions and revelations. So it is no wonder that when Joseph and Oliver Cowdery had a question about baptism, the answer would usher in the glorious restoration of the Aaronic priesthood upon the earth. In this week’s study group, we’ll study Doctrine and Covenants sections 12–13 and Joseph Smith—History 1:66–75 to discover how the restoration of the priesthood helps us build Zion in the latter days.
