Last month, millions of hearts were touched when 6-year-old Bridger Walker shielded his little sister from a charging dog at high cost to himself. His act of bravery caught the attention of major news outlets and several celebrities, who sent him messages and get well gifts. Many Latter-day Saints were pleasantly surprised to learn than Bridger and his family are members of the Church.

The Chosen is the first multi-series TV show about the life of Christ. Bible stories are portrayed through the eyes of those who spent time with Jesus during their mortal lives. The show’s writer and director, Dallas Jenkins, said of the project, “None of this matters if it doesn't compel you back to scripture. Not only so you can experience Jesus the way his followers did but also so you can change and grow the way they did."

Bridger Walker, age 6, touched the hearts of many after shielding his sister from a neighborhood dog at high cost to himself. His story has been covered by major news outlets such as Yahoo! and ABC News, and he’s received messages of love far and wide, including from celebrities like Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. But what many may not know is that the Walker family are Latter-day Saints and through this experience they have spread a message of love and a call to “comfort those that need comfort.”

Filmmakers Tshoper Kabambi and Brandon Ray Olive, in collaboration with Deseret Book and Excel Entertainment announced on Monday, July 13, their award-winning, groundbreaking film Heart of Africa will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on Friday, July 17. The DVD and Blu-ray will be available at all Deseret Book locations, online and at additional retailers throughout the United States. Heart of Africa had its theatrical debut earlier this year, but its run in theatres was cut short due to COVID-19-related theatre closures.

This sequel to the hugely popular Frozen (2013) has been highly anticipated by squealing fans—and me. When the first trailer was released, it had 116,400,000 views within the first 24 hours, making it the most viewed animated trailer of all time.

Directed by Marielle Heller, this dramatic and touching film is inspired by the life of Fred Rogers and his friendship with journalist Tom Junod. Before seeing the movie, I thought it was going to be a biopic, but it’s not at all. Mr. Rogers wouldn’t have wanted a movie to be about him anyway. It’s actually based on an award-winning article in Esquire magazine in 1998 entitled “Can You Say . . . Hero?”

One question we hear people say all the time is, “How is it possible that a story this good was out there, but I’ve never heard of it?” Surely, with our great love and interest in our Church’s history—and the fact that these events take place in Palmyra—you would expect we would all know and be familiar with Willard and Rebecca Bean.

Kate, a continually unlucky woman, is leading a life that's ever so slightly falling apart. While working her job at a Christmas shop, Kate meets a man named Tom and as they get to know each other, she begins to rebuild her life.

There has been a lot of debate about whether or not Harriet Tubman’s face should be on the $20 bill. She was quite an extraordinary woman and you will learn a lot about her inspiring life in this dramatic biopic; however, viewers need to know that not everything in the film is historically accurate.

Co-produced by BYU-TV, this well-acted adaptation of The New York Times bestseller Christmas Jars is in over 800 theaters nationwide tonight (November 4th) only, hosted by Fathom Events. Children will be introduced to the macabre Addams family in this dark animated version. If you watched the popular 1960s TV show of the same name, you might get a kick out of The Addams Family. I never liked the TV show or previous movies, so I wasn’t very excited about a children’s version hitting theaters. The timing for this creepy cartoon, directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, is perfect for Halloween, but it may not be the perfect fit for your family. Hotel Transylvania is funnier and less dark for young kids.

Once upon a time, or twice upon a time in this case. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil brings back the magic and fantasy that Disney built its foundation upon. The visual effects and fantastical creatures are outstanding, and this film is absolutely gorgeous to look at. There is something here for almost everyone: magical worlds, beautiful landscapes, creative creatures, impressive set designs, exciting battle scenes, regal costumes, romance with a Romeo and Juliet vibe, comedy, good vs. evil.

This movie spent a very long time in production—20 years! Disney was going to produce it years ago but computer effects at the time weren’t quite up to the task. The technical innovations were worth the wait, but the story could have used some more time to work out. As the name Gemini Man suggests, an assassin is cloned.

DreamWorks presents a beautiful and sweet animated film that features a magical yeti who takes some new human friends on a journey to his home on Mount Everest. Originally, the movie was going to be called Everest. The abominable yeti looks like a mix between a fluffy, giant dog and a huggable bear. He hums to music, conveniently understands English, and has a few magical powers. In case you’re wondering if the yeti is a boy or a girl, the protagonist asked the same question. When the creature belched loudly, she said, “You’re definitely a boy.” He’s definitely cute enough that kids will want one to snuggle with, so merchandising looks pretty promising already.
