Kids say the darndest things, and during prayer is no exception. In their innocence they sometimes can pray for unorthadox blessings. From avoiding bedtime to praying "this food will taste better than it looks," you're sure to get a laugh out of these adorable stories.

In a recent Mormon Newsroom video, a victim of Hurricane Harvey describes her desperate prayer and the answer she received minutes later: "God is so awesome and good. Right after a prayer, and I said, 'Lord just send me some help because I am so tired,' and one of the gentlemen called [from Mormon Helping Hands] and here they are doing an awesome job."

"It was honestly one of the hardest things to hear in my life," Sister Paget said, talking about learning she was going home. "There were lots of tears. I was almost a little bit hysterical. 'I cannot go home yet.' But one of my former companions said, 'You know, it's not often you can know an apostle looked at your name and felt the Lord was pleased with your efforts on your mission and felt it wasn't necessary for you to go to another mission for two months."

Over the years, the pulpit in the Conference Center has been graced with many surprising, charming, touching, and humorous stories.

I remember a time when there was something that I really wanted to have happen in my life. I felt it was good, but when it wasn’t working out, I got discouraged and didn’t understand why praying for something with such faith wasn’t allowing it to work out. What I didn’t recognize, however, was that the way I understood prayer and God’s will was different from the way God understood it. So what is the purpose of prayer and how do we figure out God’s will for us?

Last spring I came across an article on My Best LDSabout what could be the shortest general conference talk ever given. Now, a fact like that is hard to prove considering we do not have transcripts for every conference talk given in our Church's history, but it seems likely that this could be the shortest talk ever given in general conference, especially considering that speakers in the 1800s were not known for their brevity.
