What Pres. Oaks said in his first conference as the prophet

Filmmakers Tshoper Kabambi and Brandon Ray Olive, in collaboration with Deseret Book and Excel Entertainment announced on Monday, July 13, their award-winning, groundbreaking film Heart of Africa will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on Friday, July 17. The DVD and Blu-ray will be available at all Deseret Book locations, online and at additional retailers throughout the United States. Heart of Africa had its theatrical debut earlier this year, but its run in theatres was cut short due to COVID-19-related theatre closures.

COVID-19 has introduced major disruptions into our society, including into the Lord’s restored church. We can’t gather as we used to. Ministering efforts are now critical, but many still struggle to reach out to others. Local Church leaders have become overwhelmed with the unique trials faced by their members, for which there is no preexisting list of remedies. While burnout isn't a new phenomenon among Church members, it has certainly been on the rise as a result of the pandemic.

The year was 2001 and Shawn Nelson was ready to throw in the towel on the small business he had started as a student at the University of Utah. After returning home from serving as a full-time missionary in Taiwan, Nelson broke out a giant foam-filled bag he had made pre-mission. The bag was used to sit on at drive-in movies or on camping trips, and it started to catch the eye of neighbors and friends who asked if Nelson would make them one. The bags gave Nelson something to do during college, but they never really made him a profit. So as he entered his final semester of college and in anticipation of moving to China after landing a “dream job,” he decided to close up shop—figuratively speaking.
