If you were to pick a few words to describe heroes in the scriptures, what would you choose? Chances are the list might include words like courageous, faithful, true, or obedient. Less likely options would be worried, fearful, depressed, or anxious. However, these words, just like the words on the first list, also describe our scriptural heroes.

To find the perfect recipe, you first need the perfect ingredients. And that's what our founders Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz were for each other. In 1997, they joined forces, or better yet kitchens, to make cakes for their friends and family. The cakes they made were delicious, unlike anything anyone had tasted. About a year ago, I remember learning in seminary about a man named David W. Patten. In 1838 the Lord called him on a mission, as recorded in Doctrine and Covenants section 114. The Lord asked him to settle his business and prepare many other things so that he would be ready to do so. Brother Patten was obedient to the call of the Lord—however, within the same year, he was killed in battle and was never able to serve a mission.

This may be a time of social distancing, but that doesn’t mean we can’t connect with each other.
