In a new video shared on Facebook, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles stood next to his doctor, Dr. Jared Tyson, and shared how all things—even the tiniest cells in the human body—are a reflection of the Savior Jesus Christ and His ministry.

Dr. Tyson, who recently operated on Elder Bednar in a minor knee surgery, pointed out an interesting parallel. In his work, he uses an arthroscope, a special camera used to look inside of joints and take care of injuries. By adjusting the focus and scope of that camera to its maximum strength, tiny blood vessels can be seen, and in Dr. Tyson’s words, “We can actually see the red blood cells going by, one by one, carrying the life-sustaining oxygen throughout the body.”

Elder Bednar then draws a parallel to the Savior, saying: “The thing that occurred to me that night, whenever you pointed out that those cells lined up and passed through the capillary one by one, was the nature of the Savior’s ministry. That’s Him. His ministry was one by one.”

Elder Bednar goes on to quote Alma 30:44: “The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.”

One by One

In this book, Elder David A. Bednar offers a compelling look at a pattern the Lord uses to bless His people: He works with us on an individual basis, one by one. Demonstrating that pattern as it occurs throughout the scriptures, in the lives of many Church leaders, and in his own ministry, Elder Bednar invites us to open our hearts to the Lord's love. He also teaches that by ministering as the Savior does, one by one, we can be more powerful instruments in His hands to accomplish His purposes.
