My journey of a thousand miles started in May of 2015. I was living in South Carolina working for the summer, and I was planning to visit my mission, the Manchester New Hampshire Mission, before heading back home. The plan? Drive from South Carolina to New England, but not directly. I wanted to visit all the temples I could along the way! After all, I do have a goal to visit all the temples in the USA.

Elder D. Todd Christofferson and Elder Ronald A. Rasband along with former U.S. Senator Gordon H. Smith of the Seventy presented a special gift to U.S. Vice President Joe Biden during his brief visit to Temple Square on February 26, 2016, according to Mormon Newsroom.
The symbols in the temple are left to our own interpretation, with help from the Spirit. But occasionally there are special symbols incorporated into the exterior design of each edifice that have traditional, historical meaning— symbols that, once understood, can enhance our spiritual experience during our temple visits.
