Lord of the Rings and Latter-day Saints—the two go hand-in-hand more often than most of us care to admit. One does not simply sit through a three-hour block without hearing Middle-earth references in Sunday School on a regular basis.
As I have watched the Book of Mormon videos that have been released each Friday over the last few months, I have been surprised at how many details in the scriptures I have missed, understood differently, or forgotten. When he sat down, the other young man got to his feet. Speaking in halting French, he told his story. The mission president, who was sitting beside me, translated for us. Here, as best as I can remember it, is what he said:

Why are there more lessons this year?” Well, yes, we did technically finish the sections, but did you know there are three very important documents included at the end of the Doctrine and Covenants? And so this week, we’re going to study those three documents: Official Declarations 1 and 2 and the Articles of Faith. But we also have a little something extra for you that is going to set up the discussion so well for these documents and we can’t wait to share it with you. So friends, grab your scriptures and let’s dig in.
