God’s goal for His children is to see us with Him again. That eternal life is best described in John 17 and Doctrine and Covenants 132 as “knowing” God. This week’s Come, Follow Me lesson teaches sacred truths restored through Joseph Smith that allow us to know God and bring ourselves closer to Him—in this world and the world to come.
Segment 1
Scriptures:
D&C 130:20-21 (Obedience and blessings)
D&C 129:3,6 (Just men made perfect)
D&C 76:69 (Made perfect through Jesus)
D&C 132:24 (Eternal life is to know Jesus)
Words of the General Authorities:
The Book of Mormon brings men to Christ. The Doctrine and Covenants brings men to Christ’s kingdom. (Ezra Taft Benson, “The Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants”, April 1987 General Conference)
Segment 2
Scriptures:
D&C 129:7-9 (The keys to detect good and evil)
D&C 132:16,18 (Worthy of far more)
D&C 132:45 (Restore all things)
Words of the General Authorities:
My friends, my fellow disciples on the road of mortal life, our Father’s beautiful plan, even His “fabulous” plan, is designed to bring you home, not to keep you out. No one has built a roadblock and stationed someone there to turn you around and send you away. In fact, it is the exact opposite. God is in relentless pursuit of you. He “wants all of His children to choose to return to Him,” and He employs every possible measure to bring you back. (Patrick Kearon, “God’s Intent Is to Bring You Home”, April 2024 General Conference)
If you live up to your privilege the angels cannot be restrained from being your associates…If you will be pure, nothing can hinder. (Joseph Smith, Relief Society Minute Book, Apr. 28, 1842, p. 38–39, also referenced in Daughters in My Kingdom: The History and Work of Relief Society, Chapter 10: “Live Up to Your Privilege”)
We have not always been wise in using the great qualifications and powers of the daughters of God. We have work left to do, but we are a lot better off than we were even a decade ago. (Dallin H. Oaks, “New First Presidency Discusses Key Issues and Shares Hopes for the World”, Introductory interview of the First Presidency, October 15, 2025)
Study Helps:
God wants to exalt His children. There are many things we don’t know about exaltation or life in the highest degree of the celestial kingdom—the kind of life God lives. Much of it may be beyond our current ability to understand. But God has revealed a few precious clues, and many of them are found in Doctrine and Covenants 130–32. (Come, Follow Me—For Home and Church: Doctrine and Covenants 2025, “I Have Seen Your Sacrifices in Obedience”)
Segment 3
Scriptures:
D&C 130:1,22 (God and the Son have bodies)
Abraham 3:24-26 (Our bodies are added to our premortal glory)
Words of the General Authorities:
Our bodies are our temples. We are not less but more like Heavenly Father because we are embodied. (Susan W. Tanner, “The Sanctity of the Body”, October 2005 General Conference)
Obtaining a tabernacle of flesh is an essential step in the process of becoming like our Heavenly Father. Our physical bodies make possible a breadth and a depth and an intensity of experience that simply could not be obtained in our premortal estate…Thus, our relationships with other people, our capacity to recognize and respond to truth, and our ability to obey the principles and ordinances of the gospel of Jesus Christ are amplified through our physical bodies. (David A. Bednar, “Ye are the Temple of God”, BYU-Idaho Devotional delivered on January 11, 2000)
Segment 4
Scriptures:
D&C 130:18-21 (Gaining knowledge to be obedient)
Words of the General Authorities:
He not only knows what is best for you; He also anxiously wants you to choose what is best for you. If you believe this in your hearts—if you truly believe the great mission of our Heavenly Father is to exalt and glorify His children and that He knows best how to do it—doesn’t it make sense to embrace and follow His commandments, even the ones that appear difficult? Should we not cherish the light posts He has given that guide us through the darkness and the trials of mortality? They mark the way back to our heavenly home! (Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “Living the Gospel Joyful”, October 2014 General Conference)
Segment 5
Scriptures:
D&C 132:2-32 (Eternal laws and marriage)
D&C 132:34-48 (Plural marriage)
D&C 132:49-66 (Advice for Joseph and Emma’s marriage)
Genesis 2:18 (We should not be alone)
D&C 132:4,6 (New and everlasting covenant)
D&C 132:20 (They shall have no end)
D&C 76:58 (A covenant with God)
D&C 88:107 (An inheritance equal with God)
D&C 93:20 (Receive a fulness)
Segment 6
Scriptures:
D&C 101:3-4 (Abrahamic test)
D&C 132:45 (Restore all things)
Words of the General Authorities:
You are worried about the wrong things. You should be worried about whether you will get to those places. Concentrate on that. If you get there, all of it will be more wonderful than you can imagine. (Story relayed by Dallin H. Oaks, “Trust in the Lord”, October 2019 General Conference)
Joseph Smith would be instrumental in restoring once again the doctrine, the authority, and the covenants and ordinances of the Savior’s ancient Church. (David A. Bednar, “The Times of Restitution of All Things”, April 2025 General Conference)
