I remember when a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles brought me to tears. He shed a few tears with me.

“Don’t be distracted from the true source of light. If you feel you are in the shadow or even in darkness, don’t remain there,” Sister Cordon said.

June 8, 1978, is emblazoned into our collective memory as Latter-day Saints. Many of us identify with the sentiments of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, who said, "I can remember exactly where I was. For us, that's the 'where we [were] when Kennedy was shot' [moment], this deep, deep, spiritual, emotional moment in the history of the Church."

We love these men and the testimonies they bore as Apostles of Jesus Christ, through their actions and their words.

At a Deseret Book Co. authors’ banquet in February 2012, an election year, in which Mitt Romney was running as a candidate for the US presidency, Elder Perry issued an invitation for the assembled authors to “write books” to capitalize on the growing interest in Mormonism. Roy Prete took this to heart and assembled a group of faithful scholars, mostly BYU professors, to produce a much-lauded, magnificently illustrated table-top picture book, The Mormons: An Illustrated History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We thank all the brave men and women who have served in militaries around the world to protect their countries.

Over the Halloween weekend, some Provo residents decided to turn the holiday into a way to celebrate the life and legacy of three great men who recently passed away: President Boyd K. Packer, Elder L. Tom Perry, and Elder Richard G. Scott.

The annual Seminar for New Mission Presidents has been a gathering of many unforgettable talks and teachings. Prophets and apostles have used the event to teach gospel truths essential to missionary work and beyond.

Church members worldwide are mourning the May 30 passing of Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Over a span of four decades, he delivered countless talks and sermons that were characteristically enriched with compassion and common sense.

At Elder L. Tom Perry’s funeral in the Tabernacle today, Elders Dallin H. Oaks and M. Russell Ballard both delivered heartfelt tributes to their colleague and friend. During his address, Elder Ballard related the following:

The "wildfire" cancer that took Elder L. Tom Perry's life on Saturday shocked his family, but he met the terminal diagnosis with customary acceptance of the Lord's will, his son said Sunday.

After an announcement yesterday that Elder Perry's cancer had spread to his lungs, the Church announced today that Elder Perry passed away in his home.

Last Friday Elder Richard G. Scott, age 86, was hospitalized for gastrointestinal bleeding. After the bleeding was brought under control, the Church reported he was "resting comfortably."

Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve told students during a campus devotional at Brigham Young University-Idaho on Jan. 24. Elder Perry addressed the students in the BYU-Idaho Center on the university's campus in Rexburg."I would like to issue a challenge to you — the future graduates of BYU-Idaho," he said. "Prepare yourselves now to take advantage of the significant opportunities the new year will bring to all members of the Church. Demonstrate by what you say and the way you live the teachings of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Exemplify a Latter-day Saint, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ."

L. Tom Perry, with big hands and an even bigger grin, is the oldest and tallest living Mormon apostle. He also might be the least well-known.
