Elder Caussé lists 23 questions the Book of Mormon answers

In his recent address at a national meeting of Scout leaders, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland shared how our duty to God is a way of life.

After traveling to Mount Everest's base camp in 2012, Bart Williams decided he wanted to make it to the summit. But during his first attempt in 2015, a terrible earthquake hit Nepal and all of the climbers on Everest had to be airlifted down the mountain. But Williams was undeterred.

I would like to open this study article with an observation I made in the commentary on this lesson found at mormonbasics.com. The commentary on the lesson begins with this quote: “Surely the Lord will support us if we use our best efforts in carrying out the commandment to do family history research and temple work.” Isn’t it odd that any of us might even wonder if the Lord will help us in doing our family history research or in doing our temple work? We do it on His commandment. If the Lord has ordered that it be done and that we do it on peril of our own salvation, does it not make sense that He will be opening doors for us to assist us in accomplishing this great work? God never commands anything that is not accomplished. If he says this work must be done, then every necessary thing will be made available to us to accomplish His work.

A recent study found that it is particularly damaging when dads yell at their kids—even more so than when moms yell. Why is that?

During his surprise visit to SVU, Elder Dallin H. Oaks joined Sister Kristen Oaks on stage, sharing his personal daily routine that allows him to stay connected to the Spirit. During the address, he admitted, "Kristen is the enforcement mechanism for family prayer . . . it is not at all unusual for her to chase me down the hall after I've gone out the door and summon me back to have family prayer. It's not that I don't value it, it's just that I have been praying and studying all morning and I'm susceptible to forget it."

Several months ago, a friend and I were talking about our homes. I have a whole list of improvements I want to undertake, from painting the kitchen cupboards to putting barn wood paneling in the bathroom upstairs to finding some new pillows for the couch. However, as I started talking to her, I realized her home improvement focus was on a completely different track. She asked if I had any ideas for making her home more Christ-centered. I was immediately drawn into the idea. My family believes in Jesus Christ, but had I devoted enough time and energy to making my home Christ-centered? One night as I was pondering on how I might make that happen, the answer finally came. What better way to learn about having a Christ-centered home than from Christ Himself?
