What Pres. Freeman would tell every young woman considering a mission

While we should not be overly preoccupied in thinking about Satan and his purposes, as we honestly consider our desire to repent and more closely follow the Savior, we need to realize that the forces of the adversary will attempt to thwart our resolve.

LDS Living’s All In podcast became aware of Britt Berrett, former president of an 898-bed hospital in Dallas, Texas, when someone who serves with him in the Dallas temple reached out and recommended his friend Britt as someone who exemplifies what it means to be “all in.” On the episode this week, host Morgan Jones spoke with Britt about his experience serving in the temple and the lessons he has learned from that service—service that is really hard work.

150 years ago this week, Latter-day Saint women filed into the hard benches of the Tabernacle. The San Francisco Evening Bulletin called the meeting that followed, “one of the most remarkable that has ever congregated on the continent.” The meeting came on the heels of a new law against polygamy, the very thing that made them unlikely suspects to lead the charge for women’s equality. Just after midnight on Friday morning, Kris Belcher, a beloved Deseret Book author and Time Out for Women speaker passed away. Belcher lived her life inspiring others despite many health challenges, including cancer that led to her losing her sight. In the wake of Belcher’s passing, Emily Belle Freeman penned the following: “She is finally able to see . . . it was the text I received just after midnight. And just like that, she was gone . . . one of the noble and great ones. And I held her hand, and I thought of the wisdom she gave every one of us. And the love. Oh, she knew how to love . . . and there was peace. #intothelight.”
