For the past two weeks, Mormon families have dominated America's Funniest Home Videos.

Loneliness—it is a shared experience among all of us. At some point every person is going to feel isolated, misunderstood, abandoned, or lonely. Even our Savior felt that way, pleading to Heavenly Father, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

Before the youth cultural celebration on Saturday, May 19, President Henry B. Eyring told the 17,000 youth performing, “My prayer is that this experience will lead to a lifetime of choices to make the temple a guiding star on your journey home to live forever in loving families with Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son. I am grateful to be on the journey with you.”

I had a great single life. I mean, it was awesome.

"While we certainly desire to be fully prepared for His coming, we should not allow ourselves to get caught up in the newest spiritual fad. So what are some things that must take place before Christ begins to reign on planet earth?"

From the world’s fastest texter (Benjamin Cook, 2006) to the world’s fastest raw onion eater (Trevor Reilly, 2004); from the world’s strongest power-lifter (Lance Davis, 2004, 618.3 pounds) to the world’s fastest balloon animal inflator (KC Williams, 2003 & 2004), there is no doubt that the Church is full of impressive Mormons dedicated to developing the unique talents the Lord has given them. And the diversity of these talents has only added to the strength and notability of our Church and its members, proving that Mormons can be daring, whimsical, athletic, knowledgeable, and faithful.

For the past 15 years, I have been involved in counseling individuals, couples, and families. In each of these settings, my life has been greatly blessed as I have marveled at the capacity of the immortal spirit to heal, develop, change, grow, and lead. During this time, I have observed several reoccurring themes that have been expressed by both individuals and couples. One critical reoccurring theme I wish to talk about is the topic of sexual intimacy.

I have only three memories of my grandfather Wilbur Yelvington. One was that he was going to bald. If I stood on my tiptoes, I could see the back of his head when he relaxed in his favorite chair after work. Yup. There was the bald spot.

Professor Henry Eyring of Princeton University asked a fellow scientist if he would like to collaborate on a chemical kinetics research project. The scientist refused, believing “they would never live long enough to finish the problem.” Henry countered, “That’s true if we don’t learn anything while we are working on the problem.”
