What does it mean that Eve was called the mother of all living before she had children? And what does this teach us about the divine role of motherhood?

In a video released Wednesday, May 6, President Russell M. Nelson gave a message of comfort and caution to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regarding the days ahead as COVID-19 restrictions are slowly being lifted.

Amidst the Coronavirus rush for toilet paper among other grocery store items, McKay Coppins, writer for The Atlantic, recently shone a light on the Latter-day Saint counsel to have “food storage” and the many ways it has “spawned a quirky subculture within the faith, complete with home-picking seminars, dedicated Pinterest pages, and custom-made furniture for cleverly storing canned good.” But Coppins, a member of the Church himself, points out that the purpose of Latter-day Saint food storage is not focused on the end of the world but to ensure that “should adversity come, we may care for ourselves and our neighbors, and support bishops as they care for others.”

How many billionaires know how to sew? We’re not sure but you can definitely add Gail Miller to the list. As the Board Chair of Intermountain Healthcare’s Board of Trustees, Utah Jazz Owner Gail Miller recently did a video making people aware of ProjectProtect, a volunteer effort initiated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in conjunction with Intermountain Healthcare as well as several other organizations in Utah. ProjectProtect seeks to sew masks for frontline medical professionals aiding in the fight against COVID-19.

The Association for Mormon Letters (AML) Awards were presented online on Saturday, May 2. The AML is a nonprofit that promotes fellowship among scholars and writers of Latter-day Saint literature. Perhaps one of the most discouraging struggles women endure is that never-ending battle with our own bodies. A woman’s attitude toward her own body is fraught with misconceptions fueled by a world that celebrates an almost prepubescent female body as the ideal norm. Unfortunately for most of us, time moves on. We are no longer seventeen, a number of children have made their way through our birth canals, and gravity is exerting its inexorable pull. Whenever we look in the mirror, we are reminded of what we are not. Satan would have it just that way. He would have us think that because our bodies do not look a certain, supposedly desirable, way, they are not worth having at all. Thus, we enter into a war with our bodies, hating the very tabernacle our Father has given us, despising the flesh. If Satan can get us to fixate on our bodies, either in vanity or self-loathing, then he has caused us to misunderstand completely the role our bodies play in our salvation.
