A new letter from the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced details for the 192nd Semiannual General Conference. The letter to Church leaders and members states:
General sessions for all individuals, families, and friends will be held Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening, October 1, as well as Sunday morning and afternoon, October 2. The conference will be broadcast on the Church satellite system, ChurchofJesusChrist.org, and other media. Due to the extensive construction taking place on and around Temple Square, in-person attendance at the general conference sessions will be limited. Decisions about gathering to watch general conference in meetinghouses will be left to the discretion of local leaders.
Of particular interest is the statement about the Saturday evening session. In July 2021 the Church announced that the Saturday evening sessions, which had previously alternated between a women’s session and a priesthood session for men, would become a general session for all Church members.
Then in April 2022, the Saturday evening session was held just for women ages 12 and up. This led some to wonder about the future of the Saturday evening session. Today’s letter clarifies that in October the session will be a general session with all members invited.
