Kathleen Johnson Eyring, wife of President Henry B. Eyring, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15. She was 82.

President Henry B. Eyring encouraged Latter-day Saints to respond with faith and energy to the new house of the Lord.

From the time he was a little boy, President Henry B. Eyring's life has been guided by powerful moments of personal revelation. About seeing his wife for the first time, President Eyring shared in an address delivered at the Vatican, "I saw in the crowd a young woman. I had never seen her before, but the feeling came over me that she was the best person I had ever seen. That evening she walked into our church meeting in Cambridge. Another thought came to my mind with great power: 'If I could only be with her, I could become every good thing I ever wanted to be.'" That woman was Kathleen Johnson, and that inspiration changed the course of President Eyring's life.

At this wonderful general conference time, it is our privilege to bring together senior leaders of the Church from around the world to provide instruction and to unify our effort to bring God’s children closer to the gospel of Jesus Christ. This morning in a leadership session the First Presidency provided instruction on several important topics. We are pleased to share with our members and friends some very positive messages from that meeting.

When I was a little boy I was given a small Bible. If I remember correctly, it was only the New Testament. As I read I was drawn to 1 Corinthians 13, which is about charity, and, even as a child, I knew that for me that chapter was about the family I would someday have. Years later, before I was married, I received a patriarchal blessing. In that blessing the patriarch described the feeling that would someday be in my home. He described exactly what I had felt years before when I read 1 Corinthians 13, and I knew that the scriptures were a way that God speaks to me.

The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are now using Instagram to share the light of Jesus Christ with millions around the world.

The impressive professional resume of President Henry B. Eyring, his degree in the rigorous field of physics and time spent as president of Ricks College, sometimes pigeonholes our perception of him as a logical and deliberate sort of person. But as hisbiography reveals, President Eyring is also an artist. For a time, his artwork was on display at the Church History Museum.

His wife has lost much of her memory, and President Henry B. Eyring's effort to capture his memories with her makes a surprising new exhibit of his water colors especially poignant.

President Russell M. Nelson has said: “I never ask myself, ‘When does the prophet speak as a prophet and when does he not?’ My interest has been, ‘How can I be more like him?’"

After holding a devotional at Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners in a stadium that can hold 47,000, President Russell M. Nelson will then speak at the Langley Centre, home of the Vancouver Giants, the Church announced Wednesday.

Choosing an eternal companion is one of the most important decisions to make in this life. However, people fall in love and find their eternal companions in many different ways. Even our beloved prophet and apostles experienced times when they had butterflies in their stomachs and unrestful nights thinking about their significant others. Here are the stories of how our prophet and apostles found their eternal companions.

“You may have times when you wonder if your call is beyond you,” President Henry B. Eyring told recently called mission leaders. “You may even ask, ‘Is this too much for me?’ I have had such moments often in my service in the Lord’s kingdom. And I have learned how important it is to banish those moments quickly. If you let them linger, they grow, and then your power to serve diminishes."

Maybe the hardest part of trials is the uncertainties. Often, we don't know the big picture, like why we were given this trial or when it will end. But even though we may not know everything about our trials at first, there are two things that are always certain.

Our prophet and apostles provide examples for us not only through what they do and say but also in what they surround themselves with.

Before the youth cultural celebration on Saturday, May 19, President Henry B. Eyring told the 17,000 youth performing, “My prayer is that this experience will lead to a lifetime of choices to make the temple a guiding star on your journey home to live forever in loving families with Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son. I am grateful to be on the journey with you.”

We know the First Presidency and apostles sacrifice much to serve the Lord and members around the world, but sometimes we fail to recognize the women who travel with them, stand beside them, and sacrifice just as much for our Church. Learn a little more about the wives of the apostles.

Many of us are missing our beloved prophet this morning and extending our love to his family after he passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. President Eyring and President Uchtdorf released the following testimony and tribute:

The Church released the text of the Cedar City Utah Temple dedicatory prayer. The prayer was offered by President Henry B. Eyring on Sunday, December 10th.

“I pray the blessings of the Lord upon you, for your goodness and your faithfulness,” President Eyring told the crowd at the Cedar City Utah Temple dedication. “I know that this house will be a blessing to all of you, to your families and for the generations.”
