The name “Bradley R. Wilcox” may have sounded familiar to many Latter-day Saints when he was announced as a member of the new Young Men general presidency in general conference, and rightly so. Brother Wilcox is widely known for his work at BYU and as a speaker and an author. President Steven J. Lund and Brother Ahmad S. Corbitt, however, are newer names to most Latter-day Saints. A brief question and answer session helps introduce the new presidency by showing their excitement over their new calling.

I’m currently serving as a Young Women adviser in my ward. When the new Children and Youth program was first announced, I was both nervous and excited. How different would this be from Personal Progress, Duty to God, Activity Days, or Scouts? Would our youth feel like this was one more thing they had to add to their busy schedules, or would this new program easily integrate into their current extracurricular activities? Would it be flexible for our small youth program?

The words of the Aaronic Priesthood quorum theme can help us understand and remember who we are and why we are here and help us walk the covenant path. The words can also help us understand that each day is part of the journey of improving as we strive to do better and be better than ever before. For truly, we are sons of a Father in Heaven who knows and loves us.

The concept of priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is unique. A portion of God's power is delegated to "individuals who He knows perfectly well are imperfect." How does that work? As authors, Dale and Ruth Renlund ask, "How is it conceivable that His awesome, delicate power could be used by both an illiterate farmer and a rocket scientist—to equal effect—in the salvation of humankind?" Understanding the doctrine of the priesthood and the principles that govern its use is a pursuit worth of any member of the Church, but one that should be of special concern to those who hold or are preparing to hold the Melchizedek Priesthood. This careful explanation offers a perfect way to enhance your knowledge and appreciation of priesthood power and how to use it.

For several years now, we have collected hundreds of personal stories from young adults in the Church telling us how they were taught about sexuality. We are particularly intrigued by how frequently we are told by young people that their parents and Church leaders used object lessons to teach them about the law of chastity. Much can be learned from understanding the metaphors and messages that are intentionally—and unintentionally—expressed in these types of lessons.

But when I traipsed over to the Church History Library and looked through the For the Strength of Youth pamphlets from the past, I found hard evidence that it was, in fact, considered inappropriate for young women to wear pants to school and several other places.

Here are a few things we might want to consider as we are teaching the rising generation how to stand strong against the world:
